Today, I get the honor of admitting to you that I’m a geek.
Yep. I’m a geek.
You heard it here first.
Incase you don’t believe me I’ll tell you a little story.
Last Wednesday after church, while watching Josiah play in the gym, I pulled out my Kindle and read a book. It was a book about how the complex mix of chemicals in essential oils affect your brain, and therefore your emotions.
Yeah, one of the dads in the gym asked me what I was reading. His blank stare upon learning that I’m reading a book about chemicals told me that this is not the kind of book most women read for fun.
So, I’m a geek.
I’m OK with that.
I’m a geek who is learning all kinds of wonderful things about how our bodies work, and about the many resources God gave us to help us keep our bodies, minds, and emotions working like they’re supposed to.
If you haven’t ventured into the land of essential oils just yet, let me invite you. It’s a pretty cool place!
Essential oils are simply oils that are extracted from plants. They are so named, not to imply that that they are essential in the sense that we must have these oils, but because the oils are “the essence” of the plant. Essential oils have been used since ancient times (do Frankincense and Myrrh sound familiar?) and are still used today for everything from natural cleaning to any number of health needs.
It’s really amazing when you read about the complexity of the oils and the amazing things they can do for your health. (That is, if you’re inclined to read such things. If not, keep coming back here, I’ll share what I’m learning with you, and save you the embarrassment of having to become a geek.) As I learn, I’ll share what oils are the best for different situations and how to use them. I’ll try to steer you toward quality resources as well.
But, before I get too carried away with this phenomenal find, (like I discovered essential oils!) I need to get to my point, and that is, a product review. Knowing that not all oils are of equal quality, I’ve been doing some research in hopes of finding the best. I’ve found a few companies that I think are doing a nice job providing high quality oils, and one of them recently sent me some oils to try! How cool is that!
Unfortunately I can’t tell you about it right now because I just looked at my word count and this post is getting too long.
I can hear you laughing.
If you’ve been here a while, you know me pretty well. I’m Beth Cranford; queen of the 1,000 word blog post. Yes, I do use a lot of words to make my point. Lucky for you, I’ve decided to follow good advice and start posting fewer words! On the not-so- lucky side, that means you’ll have to wait until Monday to hear about the oils I tried.
It’s a pretty cool story so I hope you’ll come back!
