I’m happy to say that our fast- approaching new homeschool year is coming together nicely. It’s fun to see the new opportunities that come our way, one year at a time.
Josiah is going to be doing Winter Promise this year. I’m very excited about that. Watch for several posts/reviews about that as we go along. I think we’ll do All About Reading as well. I haven’t ordered it yet, so there is still a slight chance I’ll change my mind. That’ll pretty much cover it for him, unless I decide to throw in some formal penmanship just to get him progressing well in that area. (Lydia did about a semester of formal penmanship and now hers is better than mine! Just another validation that not everything has to be taught through a curriculum.)
And speaking of Lydia; this post is about her school plans this year, specifically a course she’s beginning now that I’m so excited about.
I talk a lot about allowing our children to pursue their gifts and bents. You can read more about that here and here.
In keeping with that belief, Lydia’s school year will look a little bit different than that of many of her peers. Most of her time will be spent in a small dance studio with her beautiful and godly dance teacher, studying to become a dance instructor. She should be certified by the time she’s a senior. She’ll be studying nutritional science instead of chemistry, and dance history, instead of, well, whatever most sophomores are studying.
But dance isn’t everything. She’ll be in our local theater’s upcoming performance of “Singing in the Rain”, and she’ll be pursuing her other passion and talent; photography.
We’ve had a difficult time finding her a photography class. Most are too “camera focused”… pardon the pun! She doesn’t need a camera class. She just needs tips on how to hone her natural talent in photography.
And I’ve found what I think will be the perfect thing.
It’s an online course, written for parents, so they can learn to take spectacular photos of their children. I figured the principles would be the same. She takes photos of friends and does family photos. Sounds like a perfect match.
And it’s online so I don’t have to worry about it being too far away, or if it fits our schedule. It’s a 21 day course but she can go somewhat at her own pace. (I say somewhat because she does need to get it done relatively soon because at the end of July she begins 6 days a week rehearsals for the play!)
But I digress. I’m sure you’re not overly concerned with my daughter’s schedule. But I hope I’ve sparked your curiosity about this photography course.
Do you have a child with a natural bent toward photography?
Do you want to take better photos of your kids?
Are you a blogger who needs to take better blog photos?
Then you will love this program.
It’s called The 21 Day Photo Fix.
Kyle shultz is on a mission to help parents capture the everyday moments spent with their children by taking beautiful photos.
- He keeps the lessons concise (because you’re busy)
- He keeps them non-techy (because you probably aren’t a geek)
- And he shares the stuff that will make the biggest impact on your success!
There are five modules, they are:
- Composition
- Lighting
- Understanding Exposure
- Camera Operations
- Post Production
And a few details about how the course is structured:
- It’s all online.
- There are 21 self- paced lessons.
- Lessons are video based.
- But if you learn better reading, we have writing too.
- You have lifetime access
- Comes with a 30 day money back guarentee
It’s pretty amazing, really. I’m exciting to see the photos that Lydia takes. Maybe she’ll teach me a thing or two!
You can sign up for The Tour Guide, which is pretty much a syllabus (but a very pretty one) of the program. Anything you need to know will be covered in the free tour guide. Just click the image below and scroll down to the second sign-up box.
When you sign up for the Tour Gide, you’ll also get free photography tips in your email! And this isn’t fluff! I just received an email all about finding natural light in my home, AND he sent a free worksheet. Who doesn’t love a free worksheet?
And now, the news you’ve been waiting for: The Giveaway
Kyle is giving away one membership to The 21 Day Photo Fix to one of my readers.
I’ll be posting updates as my daughter goes through the program. We’ll share some of what she’s learning and how her photography is progressing. Then when she’s done, we’ll choose the giveaway winner. So stay tuned for those updates by signing up for my mailing list as well.
Just enter below and we’ll announce the winner toward the end of July.
Once we announce the winner, we’ll also announce a special price for this course that will be for my readers only. So, watch this spot for news about that.
